Completing Commerce Graduation? What Next?

Today Commerce graduates have a great career ahead of them just like science graduates.

The jobs for commerce graduates may not be in great numbers as for engineering graduates but still they are a lot and you can easily find one.

So after completing B.Com what career options do you have?

Options are just too many and it is up to you what you are going to choose.

The first thing you can choose is to continue studying and join a post graduate course like M.Com or MBA.

If you are desperate for jobs then you can choose courses that are very job oriented.

You can also go for international courses if you like.

So here are courses you can try after your graduation.

Conventional Courses

Prepare of Chartered Accountant, CA

I have written articles on Chartered Accountant. This is the most common career path that a commerce graduate goes for.

If you are ambitious then you must definitely go for CA. Here you have to appear for exams conducted by the ICAI or Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

You must clear 3 examinations over a period of time (3 and half years) CPT, IPCC and Final CA.

Graduates can appear for IPCC which consists of two groups. After clearing one group you have to register for articleship with an experienced CA for over a period of 2 and half years.

After clearing both groups of IPCC and articleship you appear for Final CA.

CA exam is a long procedure but I mentioned here concisely.

Masters of Commerce, M.Com

Another very conventional course after you complete B.Com is M.Com, masters of commerce.

M.Com is a two year program that can be pursued from any recognized university in the country.

Here you will learn more about accounting, business, finance, economics, statistics, taxation, marketing and management etc.

If you don’t want to do CA and want a job then M.Com is not a bad choice. I recommend you to go for B.Com if you are less ambitious.

MBA

Students who are inclined towards getting a job with a good salary can go for MBA courses.

Now MBA courses for commerce graduates are going to be different than graduates from other courses like engineering or arts.

Here I recommend you to go for MBA in finance because job prospects are really great.

You can go for CAT for the admission into IIMs. But if we are honest not everybody can get into IIMs.

So you have to choose a MBA course in finance that you can pursue from a reputed university.

Job Oriented Courses

Apart from Conventional Courses there are various career options for commerce graduates. Now let us see such courses which are shorter in time and are job oriented.

So you have a great opportunity if you know how to communicate and sell a product. An experience of six months or a year on ground would be enough to get a high paying job.

Certified Bank Manager

You can go for a 2 years course in bank management. Here you will learn banking and financial services like money, banking laws and regulations etc.

The course is very simple you can easily find a job after completion.

New banks and other existing financial institutions need efficient bank managers. So you can take up the course at Institute of Bank Management and Research, Hyderabad.
