We recently did a review on Collegedunia, If you don’t already know what it is, here is quick overview.
Collegedunia.com, portal owned by digital marketing firm 3.14 Digital based in New Delhi, just released from the dockyard to cater the educational and information requirements of students, parents and colleges. The website lists 15000 colleges from three fields i.e. Management, Engineering and Medical and has plans to roll out other streams like Arts, Science & Commerce.
Collegedunia was founded with the vision to help the young students of india who are as always suffering from the education system and the admission process which is no less than fighting a war, the only difference is this is for a seat among the crowd of thousands. In this kind of market situation they have seized a great opportunity to make the process easier and faster. Definitely this is a big market opportunity and providing services from the thousands of colleges and institutes in india is not an easy task but they seem to be the expert at that.
They have recently raised Rs 1 crore ($162,787) in angel funding from MIH-acquired automobile site Gaadi.com’s CEO Umang Kumar, along with a bunch of undisclosed investors.
The funds will be utilised in enhancing the technology, operations and for marketing, Sahil Chalana, founder, Collegedunia.
Collegedunia generates revenue from a combination of lead generation and listing of top institutes. Currently they have more than 30 employees accross all sections of the business and is looking forward to hire 40 more in the next six months. It claims that it attracts more than a lakh visitors a month and is hoping to generate million visitors in upcoming six months.
The education sector of India is currently doing good in the market, companies are able to generate revenue and attract good investors to get on board. Collegedunia is one such ambitious project working hard to reserve their places in the education market alongside giants such as siksha, etc. The news about the funding has been recently featured in Businesswire India and Iamwire.com and its spreading all across the web.
