YouTube has millions of videos on its server and an equal amount of daily visitors. It’s become one of the world’s best-used video sharing sites. And, what’s more, it’s free to upload any videos to it!
Both individuals and businesses enjoy the benefits that YouTube offers. Exposure, publicity and video sharing tools are just some of the features available.
Have you ever fancied becoming a YouTube superstar? If so, there are a few things you need to know first. Today I will share with you some handy hints and tips to help you record your way to success! Here is what you need to find out if you wish to create some viral videos:
Get yourself a decent camcorder
The first thing on your to-do list is to buy a good quality camcorder. You might be wondering why you can’t just use your smartphone or webcam. Well, you are free to do so, of course. But, if you want to record high-quality videos, camcorders are the way forward!
If you do a Google search, you will come across a plethora of reviews on various models on the market. You should create a shortlist of camcorders that record in full HD (i.e. 1080p).
Make sure you select one that’s easy to use for beginners as well as professionals. After all; you don’t want to end up with an expensive gadget that seldom gets used!
Finally, you need to challenge yourself to get one within an affordable budget. By the way: don’t assume the most expensive one is always the best!
Install some editing software on your computer
Some folks make the mistake of uploading raw, uncut videos to YouTube. They are the ones people tend to avoid watching. Why? Because they are long and sometimes boring!
You need to edit your videos with software to keep them as short and useful as possible. My favorite tool is Adobe After Effects. Never used it before? Don’t worry, you can always get some Adobe After Effects training by Training Connection! Let’s face it; everyone had to start somewhere when they began using editing software.
Record your sound separately
When you start shooting videos for YouTube, you’ll need to consider the sound quality. High-end camcorders usually have good microphones as standard. But, if you’re on a budget I recommend opting for a separate recording system.
There are plenty of bargains on eBay and Craigslist if you wish to stick to used recording equipment. I’d hate for you to record decent videos only to have horrible “tinny” sound!
Try to capture subjects from different angles
It doesn’t matter if you’re filming yourself or other people. You can make your videos more “watchable” by varying the angles you use!
If you’ve got the money, you could, of course, invest in a second camcorder for such purposes. Otherwise, you’ll need to do a bit of moving around.
One of the classic mistakes YouTubers make is by sticking with the same angle for their entire videos! Don’t fall into that trip; be creative with your filming and mix it up a bit.
